A Transparent Message from the New Owner of The Angler's Roost
Two summers ago, I purchased the remaining inventory and assets of The Angler’s Roost. Looking back, I underestimated the scale of the undertaking and just how much inventory, organization, and work would be involved in properly continuing the brand.
A lot of customers have understandably wondered why there haven’t been more products added to the website yet. The truth is that only a small percentage of the inventory, probably around 10%, is currently listed online.
The inventory itself is massive, and because of its size, I’ve had to utilize multiple storage locations. That said, the products are being kept safely in clean, temperature-controlled spaces to ensure they remain properly preserved while I continue organizing and cataloging inventory.
For a while, I intentionally kept the amount of listed inventory relatively limited because I wanted to make sure that when customers placed orders, products could still be located, packed, and shipped out quickly and reliably. Even with a smaller amount of inventory online, the support from the fly fishing community has been great. But this summer, I’m making it a major focus to finally get more of the inventory organized, photographed, and available for purchase on the website.
One thing that has genuinely stood out to me has been the overwhelming support from customers who loved this brand and respected Johnny Khuehn. It has become very clear how much The Angler’s Roost meant to people over the years. Johnny built something special, and I truly feel a responsibility to do my best to get these products into the hands of the people who appreciate them.
This also wasn’t simply a random acquisition. My brother had known Johnny and the brand for years, and when the opportunity arose to take over the remaining inventory, he brought it to my attention. That ultimately led to me continuing The Angler’s Roost in some capacity moving forward.
Some customers may have also seen products listed on eBay under our account, “AnglersRoostLiquidation.” While eBay has helped move some inventory, my focus moving forward is building up the actual website and making it the primary home for these products.
I also want to be transparent about something else: I simply do not possess the decades of technical knowledge Johnny had. Longtime customers know how deeply knowledgeable he was about every aspect of the products and the brand. I’m doing my best to piece everything together and continue what he built, but there are technical questions that I sometimes cannot answer with the same level of expertise Johnny had developed over a lifetime.
I also want to apologize to customers who have contacted me looking for very specific products or blanks. Much of the inventory is still being organized, and at times locating a very specific item can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack while everything continues to be cataloged properly.
The good news is that progress is being made. My goal moving forward is to become far more organized, so customers can browse more products easily while ensuring orders continue to ship quickly and reliably.
I truly appreciate everyone who has supported The Angler’s Roost during this transition period. The passion surrounding this brand has been incredible to witness, and I’m committed to continuing to improve things step by step.
